Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Permit Copilot platform, including its web application and APIs (collectively, the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
Permit Copilot is decision-support software. It does not issue, approve, or deny permits, and it does not replace review by jurisdiction staff or constitute legal advice.
01The Service
Permit Copilot provides pre-submission decision support for building-permit applicants and jurisdiction staff. It analyzes project information against jurisdiction-configurable rules to estimate readiness, surface potential issues, and organize required documents and clearances.
The Service is decision support only. It does not issue, approve, or deny permits; it does not replace review, determination, or approval by a government agency or its staff; and its outputs do not constitute legal, engineering, or professional advice. Always confirm requirements with the applicable jurisdiction of record.
02Content accuracy
Some rules, sources, jurisdictions, projects, findings, and readiness scores may be sample or illustrative content and are labeled as such in the interface. Confirm requirements with the jurisdiction of record before relying on them for a permit submission or regulatory determination.
03Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. Authentication is handled by our identity provider. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.
04Organizations and roles
The Service is multi-tenant. Content you create in your organization is scoped to that organization. Some capabilities are gated by role (for example, reviewer/staff actions). Shared showcase content is visible to all authenticated users by design and must not be treated as private.
05Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service in violation of any applicable law or regulation;
- Upload content you do not have the right to share, or that infringes third-party rights;
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other tenants’ data, or related systems;
- Interfere with, disrupt, or place undue load on the Service;
- Reverse engineer the Service except to the extent that restriction is prohibited by law; or
- Present the Service’s output as an official government determination.
06Your content
You retain ownership of the documents and information you submit (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited license to host, process, and display Your Content solely to provide and improve the Service for you and your organization. You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of Your Content.
07Artificial intelligence features
Certain features use automated or AI-assisted analysis. AI-generated output is labeled, may be incomplete or incorrect, and is always subject to human review before any consequential action. Deterministic figures (such as readiness scores) are computed by rule engines, not by a language model. You are responsible for independently verifying any output before relying on it.
08Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, and content (excluding Your Content), is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service in accordance with them.
09Third-party services
The Service integrates with third-party providers (for example, authentication, storage, and model providers). Your use of those integrations may be subject to their terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for third-party services.
10Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ITS OUTPUT IS ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.
11Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
12Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
13Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
